Patent opinions from the Eastern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

Inter partes review is an administrative proceeding before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in which a petitioner challenges the validity of issued claims on prior art grounds. It runs in parallel with district court litigation and changes it: a district court may stay the case pending the Board's decision, and a final written decision carries estoppel consequences that limit what the petitioner may argue afterwards. The opinions collected here are district court and Federal Circuit decisions touching those proceedings - motions to stay pending review, disputes over the scope of estoppel, and appeals from the Board - rather than the Board's own decisions, which are not part of this collection.
