These terms govern your use of Patent Case Watch. By using the site you accept them, and by continuing to use it after a revision you accept the revised terms.

Patent Case Watch Is Not Legal Advice

Patent Case Watch publishes public court documents and automatically generated descriptions of them. It does not practice law, and it does not give legal advice. Nothing on this site — no holding label, no subject-matter tag, no excerpt, no summary, and no part of the weekly digest — is advice about your situation. Do not treat Patent Case Watch as a substitute for reading the underlying opinion or for the judgment of a lawyer qualified in the relevant jurisdiction.

Whether a decision applies to your facts, whether it is still good law, whether it has been appealed, reversed, distinguished, or superseded, and what you should do about any of it, are questions this site cannot answer. Only a lawyer who knows your circumstances can. If your situation calls for legal advice, obtain it from one.

Court records are also not the whole picture. A court may amend, vacate, or seal a decision after publication, and later authority may change its effect. Always confirm the current status of a document in a professional citation service before relying on it.

No Attorney-Client Relationship

Patent Case Watch is not a law firm, and no one operating it acts as your lawyer. Using the site, subscribing to the digest, or writing to the address on the contact page creates no attorney-client relationship. Treat nothing you send as privileged or confidential.

Do not send confidential or sensitive information, and do not send anything about a live dispute. Messages about corrections should carry only what identifies the record and describes the error.

Accuracy

Automated processes produce the classifications on this site, and no lawyer reviews them. They can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading.

The site, its contents, and its classifications are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. The site may be unavailable, incomplete, or out of date at any time and without notice.

Acceptable Use

Search engines and AI crawlers are welcome, subject to robots.txt. We may rate-limit or block automated access that degrades the service for other readers. Do not use the site to break the law, to interfere with its operation or security, or to attempt to reach parts of it that are not published.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither the operator of Patent Case Watch nor anyone involved in producing it is liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or anything in it — including any decision taken or not taken on the basis of a holding label, a tag, a summary, an excerpt, or the absence of a record.

We do not control those sites, and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their handling of your information.
