These are decisions vacating the judgment below and returning the case to the district court. Vacatur differs from reversal: it sets the judgment aside without directing the opposite result, leaving the lower court to decide the question again under the correct legal standard or on a fuller record. It is the usual disposition where a claim construction was wrong and the infringement analysis must be redone, where a damages theory rested on an improper methodology, or where the record does not support review.
